A contributor to all this is very cheap shipping . Quite often ships are backloading because of the sheer amount of stuff that comes to us from Asia . That's why we were sending rubbish to India and China .
Remember the scandal over the Patties mixed berries that were spolied a few years ago ? Grown in South America , shipped to China for " cleaning " , shipped to NZ for packaging , then shipped to Australia for sale .
There is more to it than just labor cost I reckon .
