Are we becoming more stupid?, page-61

I would define 'stupid' as an inability to 'reason' and critically think. 'Stupid' is asserting 'faith' as a valid form of reasoning.
The current Government has plan to make our children stupid, so they are easy pray to be manipulated.
Christopher Pyne let the cat out of the bag during an interview, where is says,

"...Well, it's certainly the case that over the last couple of decades there has been a fashion in teacher training. Some examples are things like whole language learning versus phonics or child centred learning where children are trained to teach themselves to enquire, rather than to actually have knowledge imparted to them."

So what Christopher Pyne (Jesuit) and the Government are saying here is, they plan to remove critical thinking (teaching to enquire) and "have knowledge imparted to them" meaning indoctrination of ideology.
A Country that removes and doesn't value critical thinking from education leaves itself open to 'unreason' the potential consequences of which are infinite.
The individual members of the Government have a 'right' to be 'stupid' however, as the Government collective, they don't have a right to engineer society to be stupid as well.
