Iron ore heiress Angela Bennett's Perth mansion has been sold for an Australian record price.
The Saunders St property in the exclusive suburb of Mosman Park fetched $57.5 million in a sale, settled today, to fellow mining magnate Chris Ellison.
Selling agent Willie Porteous confirmed the sale to WAtoday.com.au.
Mr Porteous is the husband of Rose Porteous, whose former husband Lang Hancock was the business partner of Peter Wright, Ms Bennett's father.
Mr Ellison is the head of Mineral Resources, a publicly-listed mining services and contracting firm, with a stake in the company worth about $300 million.
The 7567 square metre riverside property, which includes its own cinema, three buildings and a private jetty and tennis court, has smashed the record set last year by a $45 million Sydney waterfront property.
The previous Perth record - for a Claremont property sold in 2007 - was $23 million.
The Bennett mansion had an original asking price of $70 million.
Its sale comes amid a surge of interest in the western suburbs property market, as a combination of an improving economy, international investor interest and a mix of returning expats and cashed-up locals combine.
