Although I still consider this country as a child of the UK, Australia has been behind the eight ball from day one.
We were set up as a colony and have never transitioned from that point, even the fact of property ownership not including mineral rights stopped a multitude of home grown millionaires being available to finance home grown development and manufacturing.
It's a shame that the Eureka rebellion did not succeed
There have been numerous opportunities to become more financially independent but all wasted and we are still in the situation that regardless of the enormous wealth that we have gifted to the foreign multi nationals, the people still are not being paid for their share of their country being shipped overseas
