In Oz - it's noted that the Liberal government went strongly away from their dogged beliefs in 'paying the unemployed as little as possible' ------------ they - doubled the dole (in panic) the results of doubling the dole - - the economy went into 'miracle' mode - described by the CBA - unemployed people, went and got jobs. The extra cash allowed them to put petrol in the car, catch a bus, buy a new shirt, go for jobs ------------ magic happened - unemployment sank to record levelsnow - you would think that in the light of evidence like that, that you would sit back and think - 'oh, look at that, it might be a good idea to take our hands off the wheel, we've lucked onto a good thing here - we pulled a lever and it works like magic' BUT, no - not our darling right wing religiously led Liberal Party ----------- as soon as the crisis was over - they went back to the same old same old crappy belief system - that didn't work ****why stay with something that does work - if it's against what you believe? now - that's idiocy. It's one of the finer examples of idiocy one can see. If one reads the history of the reasoning for Brexit - one sees that idiocy in action and thought - and the reasons for it -------------- mostly because there's a large cohort that are just plain bloody dumb - uneducated, angry, and totally illogical --------------- ALWAYS on the conservative side of the page ****"why stay with something that does work - if it's against what you believe?" ideology is why. The decisions we make due to ideology as opposed to solid strategic thinking - the very issue that loses wars (ask Hitler), all through history one can see disaster after disaster due to decision making by ideology over logic.

some people have blind faith. it takes a lot to break that kind of belief... and "the expectation of life ever after amen. "imo this is the reason there is a left/right division - a) safety in numbers and crowd conformation = belief confirmation, and b) the "us and them" principle needs an opposition to be proven valid. its all bloomin' religion old bean. I've sometimes thought I'd like to go back to being a believer. you don't have to make decisions when you're told what to believe. I'd like to say agnosticism is so liberating but it's not. it's a blooming' pain man. I always have to argue these things over and again. I'm reminded of a song played at one of the Secret Policemen's Ball 'How Sweet to the an Idiot'. VIDEO
