May as well just get rid of it. Just let everyone go onto a government pension, see how the budget handles that...
and right there is one massive problem for Australia ---------- Aussies think that there's only two ways ----------- either super and pension
other nations have very different setups ----------- pension funds where ALL contribute
NOT tax. The fund is funded by 'contributions' which come out of income etc. 'before' tax does.
The essence being that it is the people's money - and everyone gets paid a pension - no assets test, no income tests ---------- 'everyone' means - 'everyone'
And as far as government 'budget' goes - it doesn't come into it - it's totally separate.
Most Australians are very ignorant of how other places work - including me. I had no idea of the details of other systems --------- and when one gets to see some other systems - one can only shake one's head at how dumb we do it in Oz
