Re bpay - good question
I've got into the habit with SPPs of paying by BPAY at about 4:15 on the closing date. Have paid about (dunno) 60 times this way for SPPs (as I have a big portfolio of (small holdings of) stocks I think will need to raise capital) and have never missed out, mostly using ANZ and Westpac, but have also made some payments using STG and IMB and no probs either.
Additionally I have tried to make payments the next day, and the BPAY just would not accept the money in most cases. (One exception - in one case I paid two days after close and my money was still accepted, and I got the shares - they may have been desperate for the cash!).
Is comforting to see the SP as late as possible IMO. I have noted that some websites ask for payments to be made 24 and even 48 hours early - maybe there are glitches sometimes?
