. . . . he who believes has life " But belief is a state of being, there is no contradiction here. Christ is not saying sit in a corner and believe, do nothing and you will have eternal life. Belief is the outcome of faith in action, faith without deeds is dead, but faith expressed by deeds shows spiritual life and belief.
Belief can not exist without deeds. Belief only exists when it is demonstrated by deeds.
And no contradiction exists with what Paul, James or Jesus has said, either. Paul is saying the reward from G.d exceeds anything you can do to earn it, but you still must live a life of deeds because this is the only truth of faith. Faith and belief are not faith and belief if they are not demonstrated by deeds.
You post this a lot but you don't seem to understand it at all. Belief, faith and deeds can not be separated. When one is absent the others do not exist. Faith without deeds is thinking you can live without breath.
