I hear what you're saying.
I feel that after tax on unrealised gains gives a better picture of the true position. Imagine if there were takeovers for BHP, WBC, RIO,and MQG + a few others, and ARG had to accept because of compulsory aquisition. Tax would be payable. In this climate going forward one can expect M&As to be increasing. BHP is big,yes, but I remember a little company called "Wigmores"
