It's because shares are so tightly held, anyone looking to get a big piece of the pie will struggle.
Its being done in the hopes that a few traders will see this as a chance to take profit (assuming a crash back down to lower levels) and those shares get scooped up.
Of course, for some of us we don't care about what the SP does but rather the milestones the company achieves, because the SP will follow accordingly.
