They were also following incorrectly interpreted Geology Mapping - this is by far in away the most significant piece of the puzzle.

Geochemistry is only significant if the Geology provides a reason for its significance. I would suggest to you had RIO looked at the data in correlation with the improved and dramatically different remapped basinal margin mapping released only 5 years ago by GSWA, that they may have actually gone back and looked at it in detail.

So RIO simply evaluated it in context. Besides they were looking for something very simple that stood out with the least work possibl. Climbing large hills was not in the parameters of SIMPLE.

Its ironical that RIO would appear to be the most logical suitor to major discovery in this area.
