The Malvern Star is a pattern I hadn't considered.
It is a cycle that works well with gearing.
One can tell when there is an obstruction to the move as the bell certainly rings.
With it the upmoves are always more laboured and the downmoves swift and sometimes careening.
It seems to be common in Asian areas especially around Shanghai at the moment.
