As Wink mentioned I am a bit of an old school hardware hacker but when building my trading computer I did spend a few bucks. A lot of research went in before I spent the money though and I figured out what I wanted using older hardware and my mad hacking skillz ;)

That said a very nice machine can be build for not a lot of cash, even including a few nice monitors. 2 grand would build a nice desktop with dual wide screen monitors that would have plenty of grunt and reliability for trading if you know what you are doing. I have a lot of screen real estate but I go about it in a slightly different way to wink. I use virtual desktops to give more room and 3 wide screen 22 inch monitors. If I want more real estate I just add another virtual desktop.

Obviously my mad skillz aren't as good as winks as I found 3 monitors are more than enough to try and concentrate on at any one time. Maybe one more for playing the odd tv show on while the markets are quiet lol.
