    "In this sign we conquer" or "In hoc signo vinces" was first used by Constantine at the Battle of the Milvan Bridge where he defeated Maxentius in 312 ad.

    Ironically, 1700 years later - "Under this sign we are being conquered"

    "Hoc signo victi sumus"
