another subtle nuance. There is a massive difference between ISIS and ISLAM. But because we refuse reconciliation with Islam many of their youth feel dispossessed. I can understand that. Everyone wants to belong somewhere and ISIS are very well versed in propaganda. They feed off our hatred and use it in coaxing these young people into extremism. Don't forget Curtis Cheng was shot by a 15 year old boy. He was not a mature adult as are we here discussing this. Many of us have or had children who were 15 and we know that they can be wet behind the ears and are easily influenced. What else are these children to think when fully grown mature white Australians tell them on a minute by minute basis that they are no good Muslim scum?? Is that type of attitude helping anything or is it playing right into the hands of ISIS in reinforcing the message that they do not belong in our society?? I would not be at all surprised if it were not one day revealed ISIS members where impersonating white western Muslim haters on social media just to add to the illusion of the chasm between us and them.

There is not much we here on social media can do about hard ass ISIS fighters in Syria....but that is why we have armies. But perhaps there is a lot we can do to stop Islamic youth feeling alienated and hence drifting into extremist ideologies. As Martin Luther King said "hate cannot drive our hate...only love can do that"
