Spot on Damian - would have been few of them hoping to get it on the cheap - don't like the fact would have to pay a commercial price. Highly-Leveraged funding possibly also challenging for smaller PE players with recent volatility.

Fact they leak their intentions to the media prior to 1st round deadline also speaks volumes - that they are interested in the asset, but don't want to pay the asking price - ie highly likely is tactical move to try & instill doubts in competing buyers & sabotage the bidding process. Then would rely on Arrium being forced to sell Moly anyway by its lenders (for less).
