I passed on to Cougar Energy, the story you posted from the Herald Sun. The guy was very appreciate of it - thanks once again for your research.
It is my opinion that the discovery of BTEX in CSG wells over the past few weeks, will stregthen Cougar's case in having their pilot plant re-opened. Realistically, how much longer can DERM play-down the contamination of the CSG companies involved. Note the lack of wielding the of "big stick" with these companies & we are not seeing headlines in the media like "Water is Posioned" etc.
The same rule should be administered to each company.
These comments in defence of the CSG industry by Anna Bligh really gets up my nose particularly as Arrow Energy's Benzene reading was exactly the same as Cougar's confirmed highest reading of 2ppb.
"Ms Bligh said there were always risks to the environment and to workers in new industries.
"And what we do is put in place strict regimes and regulations that manage those risks so that we can see the economy move forward,'' she said.
''... I think we need to manage these risks but if we walk away from an industry that offers Queensland and our regional areas the best prospect of growth and prosperity that they've seen for decades, then we will be, in my view, reneging in our responsibilities.''
I rest my case!
