To be clear, Fraunhofer has licensed CERENERGY to a German company, being Altech Batteries GmbH, of which ATC is a shareholder, along with Fraunhofer and German domiciled and registered Altech Advanced Materials AG.
Fraunhofer wanted an entrepreneurial partner and felt that Australian ATC was the best partner to assist with commercialisation of CERENERGY. Look at what has been achieved in less than 12 months since signing the CERENERGY JV. Perhaps Fraunhofer thought that a complete German outfit would still be passing the JV Agreement by its legal team for sign off by now!
