@vulcarum - Thankyou - I, too, think, "Le Soleil' it is a wonderful painting - fancy having it on the ceiling - one would probably not look at it that often. I find with the paintings I do own, that after a while, I need to shift their positions, because one gets 'used to them' and no longer looks at them appreciatively.
Lucky you, it must have been a wonderful house to visit!
And also thanks for the brief film on 'Brett Whitely' - the painting is beautiful and calm! - I had a very brief encounter with Mark Knopfler (my now deceased daughter was part of a small band of classical violin/viola/ etc. quartet on one of his tours of Europe) and when he realised I lived in Australia, he wanted to know if I knew 'Brett' - apparently they were friends when Brett and his wife, Wendy lived in London. Sadly, I had to say 'no' - and was somewhat amused by the question, as I used to get similar questions when visiting my native country from people who had a relative or friend in Australia - they had no idea how big this country is!!
Have a great day!
