yeah very tricky situation...i have been involved in the arts for a few decades now and as previous posters have mentioned, there are many avenues people take when entering this environment. Art means so many different things to different people. I mentioned Darren Knight as he is one of the most respected cont art dealers in aus and if you are serious, then you should just go and have a look and a chat...he is a standup guy and there is no pressure to purchase. Rem, this is their lives and it is more than just a pretty thing on a wall, the environment can be very rewarding, enriching, challenging and even compulsive if you find something/someone of interest.
