Believe it or not if someone told me I had to choose between living next to a coal power station or a nuclear power station I would choose nuclear. Less radiation and less sulphur dioxide, soot, acid rain etc.
Plus I would feel it a more ethical option as many die each year in coal mines around the world compared to uranium.
It is one of the few practical base power, minimal polluting options the world has at the moment until nuclear fusion is available.
