Shine senior figure resigns for the second time, continuing the revolving door exit of top talent

    SPINNING FURIOUSLY
The revolving door at the top of Shine Lawyers continues to spin furiously.
Senior executive Geniere Aplin has resigned from the seriously unhappy Brisbane office—again.
Yes, the woman who started life as Chief Operating Officer in August last year initially cashed in her chips in December.
Then she changed her mind early in the new year and decided to stay.
But she’s flip-flopped again and will now definitely pack up and head for the exits on May 5 after a one-month notice period runs out.
Aplin, who later transitioned from COO to “general manager of shared services,’’ could not be reached for comment yesterday.

But a Shine PR operative said that she was moving interstate for personal reasons. An email circulated to staff yesterday said Aplin had quit to go to Sydney.
The 41-year-old Bundaberg native is a former Suncorp employee who later spent time in the public sector, including a top gig with NSW WorkCover.
Her impending departure from Shine continues a tumultuous period over the past two years for the Erin Brockovich-aligned legal group as disappointing financial results have depressed the share price.
Former boss Courtney Petersen resigned in December after crossing swords with plenty of colleagues.
Many employees have departed rather than endure what some see as a dysfunctional and poisonous corporate culture.
But, in an unpleasant twist, Petersen still has to show up at Shine thanks to a six-month notice provision in her contract. Stuck in some broom-closet office, she must be longing for the perks of old.
Meanwhile, as City Beat revealed last week, the mandarins at Shine have seen fit to employ Cath Evans as a consultant.
Evans previously headed up Slater & Gordon’s operations in the UK when it made a disastrous $1.3 billion acquisition in 2015.
