Namibian court clears Metals Australia for uranium search

Metals Australia Ltd will start exploring for uranium on EPLs 3306 and 3308 in Namibia after the Supreme Court registrar rejected an attempt by Malakia Amakutuwa to file a further appeal or review of the courts judgment of November 5, 2010, where it unanimously ruled that the company was the holder of prospecting rights for the tenements.

Following the judgment, Mr Amakutuwa, the unsuccessful respondent in the appeal, sought to challenge the appeal judgment despite the fact that the Supreme Court is Namibias highest court and its judgments are final, Metals Australia said.

The judgment also binds the Minister of Mines and Energy, who had been joined as a party to the proceedings by Mr Amakutuwa.
