The July 2005 London bombings have benefited Australian biometric technology groups. BQT Solutions has sold products to Scotland Yard and the Australian Department of Defence. The company produces smart cards that control access to restricted areas. Newly-listed Argus Solutions Limited has developed sophisticated iris-recognition technology. The group also has a facial recognition product which is designed to identify people who have been placed on a "watchlist". QRSciences, whose products are used to detect plastic explosives, is hoping to achieve profitability in fiscal 2007.
