Gowings goes from undies to uranium
The company that rose from the ashes of Gowing Brothers has turned its attention to the Northern Territory to start uranium exploration.
Historic Sydney mens retailer Gowings Bros turned into Retail Star after it closed its doors in 2006.
The company has traded in its socks, ties and undies for exploration leases on several NT tenements, acquired over the last 11 months
Managing director Ian Scott said the company now had tenements in the Woolgni-Edith River area, about 20km northwest of Katherine, with four exploration leases over 739sq km, he said.
The company has other leases at Daly River, Marrakai, and an application pending t a location dubbed "Celia", east of Batchelor.
The company wants to raise $2.5 million through a share offer so it can commence exploration.
