One new player is Augustus Minerals (ASX:AUJ) which has bought out a private company that holds 10 prospecting licences in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia. The project already has a resource under Australia's JORC reporting code of 22 million tonnes at 0.79 per cent zirconium oxide, 0.31 per cent niobium, 0.023 per cent tantalum and 0.1 per cent yttrium. The company said assays were not done by the previous owner for such REEs as dysprosium, europium and terbium, but studies have indicated the potential for these elements to be found.
