Defence has appointed Leidos Australia as its Land 156’s Systems Integration Partner in a $45.9 million contract announced today. (Less than 15% of the max estimated value of the L156 project).
$1.3 billion has also been set aside for acquisition of counter-drone capabilities, which includes Land 156, which contains three lines of effort. (This is the TOTAL allotment for C-UAV technology, NOT the total allotment of Land156. Project Land156 is a portion of the $1.3bill, estimated between 350-500m). SIP is one of three bites of the L156 portion, of the overall 1.3bill figure. That leaves 300-400M+ elsewhere under L156.
What matters for Droneshield holders?
SIP being 15% of the project value, sucks but also not the end of the world
SIP was LOE1 of L156 as per the information in this link. "...Line of Effort 2 in Project LAND156 which is focussed on standalone dismounted equipment. Line of Effort 1 is focussed on Defence’s Systems Integration Partner (SIP) role..."
The previous contract allotment to Droneshield for L156 was under LOE2 - standalone dismounted. This is where the majority of our products would be categorised. The way I understand it, LOE1 appears to be a sizeable focus on fixed-base hard-kill systems, which makes sense as to why they went with Leidos (and EOS via the Leidos collaboration).
