Kentor Gold records highest grades yet at Jervois

Kentor Gold has recorded the highest-ever gold grades on its Jervois project, located about 350 kilometres north west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

The company has been exploring for gold, copper and silver since acquiring the tenement in May last year, and is now mid-way through a feasibility study.

Managing director Simon Milroy says while an operation is still a long way off, the project is right on track.

"We've been conducting about a 1500 metre drilling program and we've had better than expected results.

"The grades seem to be increasing with depth.

"From the recent drilling we've done, up the northern end of the main ore body, we intersected the ore body at about 450 metres below surface, and we had eight metres at 4.8 per cent copper with 62 grams of silver.

"Another hole hit nine metres at 4.9 per cent copper, 56 grams of silver and 1.2 gram per tonne gold in there as well.

"What we're envisioning out there would be a combine open pit and underground mine, delivering ore to a flotation concentrator, producing a copper concentrate.

"We plant to truck that down to the rail line, and rail it to Darwin for export."

Kentor Gold say it's also benefited from new satellite technology developed by the NT Geological Survey and CSIRO known as the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER).

"They suggested that we go and have a look at two areas that were completely unexplored, so we sent the geologists out in the field and sure enough they came back with some high grade copper and gold on surface."

But despite the recent announcements, Kentor Gold's share price has been declining since February this year.

"The Kentor share price has come off roughly in line with the rest of the junior explorers, and that seems to have stabilised about three months ago."
