There is the potential for "rare-earth-free" permanent magnets in the future to be used in these generalised humanoid robots at a lower cost and mass scale like what tesla had announced in their EVs last year.

As Adamas have pointed out though, there is no "perfect" alternative to NdFeB magnets so if these companies are looking for the best quality robots I would hope they will incorporate at least some NdFeB magnets into them.

One thing that may catch people out in the future with these is how quickly humanoid robots can ramp in production - quicker than EV's and then it becomes a story of the "robot building the robot".

The implications of these bots may also fall under "National security" at some point too as the countries that can accelerate their humanoid robots, will start to boost certain countries GDP & economies ahead of countries that are being left behind.

America's leaders so far look to be Tesla's Optimus Bot & Figure 01's robot but China (always 10 steps ahead) are going full steam ahead as well.

Definitely another nice iron in the fire to have that hasn't previously been accounted for.
