David Strahan (author of The Last Oil Shock and proponent of Peak Oil "theory") had an article published in Sunday's UK Independent Green 'supergrid' could plug Europe into renewable power by 2030, say scientists which is a seriously abbreviated version of the complete one shown on his website here.

While I realise Europe's energy needs dwarf Australia's and and hence deliver economies of scale we can't possibly hope to attain, it would be interesting to see Australia's climate data plugged into Dr Gregor Czisch's model to see how a truly national power grid utilising geothermal in the places where the resource is most abundant (see the map in the WWF report mentioned in another thread showing the NT's apparently dwarfing the Cooper Basin), along with wind/waves/solar thermal in other places, might stack up. Sorry for the length of that sentence.
