PLN Eyes Procurement of 8 Premium Tariff Electricity Purchase Contracts

JAKARTA (IFT) - PT PLN (Persero), state-owned electricity company, targets to sign the electricity purchasing contracts with 8 industrial customers with total capacity of 800 megawatts (MW) this year. Beny Marbun, Head of Commerce Division at PLN, said the company will service customers by using premium tariff.

"The selling price is around Rp 745 to Rp 810 per kilowatt hour (kWh), higher than for regular services at Rp 605 per kWh,” he said.

One of the quality services offered by PLN is premium service, which guarantees reliability and certainty of connection in accordance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) agreed upon by PLN and the customer.

Beny said if electricity supply to its premium customers is disrupted due to distribution failure from PLN’s side, then PLN must provide compensation to the customer. “For one of our premium customers, PT Krakatau Posco, we will provide compensation of Rp 500 million if the electricity supply is disrupted,” he said.

He said PLN expects the premium service customers to obtain PLN’s electricity supply in this year. “The supply will generally start coming in on November or December,” he said.

Beny said one of the companies that have proposed a premium service customer partnership is PT Dairi Prima Mineral, subsidiary of PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BMRS). The company has requested electricity supply of 30 to 60 MW for the long term. “Around 6-10 megawatts is already distributed,” he added. (*)
