This is not correct information by the installer: "unlimited cycles at 6.4 kWh"

That is not what the Tesla warranty says.

The new warranty does not guarantee any specific capacity levels, 6.4 kWh or otherwise, only that the battery will operate for 10 years if used for self consumption only. That latter part is an important giveaway because it suggests that extensive use will wear the battery out even more quickly.

No matter what spin installers are trying to put on this, the new warranty is not good news for Tesla customers.

If Tesla had solved the capacity fade issue common to all lithium batteries, there would be news headlines on every tech website. And they wouldn't be wasting their first batch of precious lithium cells on Powerwalls, they would offer a game changing electric vehicle instead.

We can be quite sure as long as lithium cars suffer from capacity fade, so will the Powerwalls, no matter how Tesla tries to obfuscate the warranty. I'm not even sure its legal for them to say in the warranty you are not covered for 'normal degradation' of the battery, without explaining exactly what that is.The original warranty at least was upfront about the capacity fade issue.

In every industry there will be dishonest salesmen and customers that fall for it.
