The share price action today (Tue) certainly was most disappointing. It could mean that some people are going to be disappointed at missing out on a benefit in the next week or two. At Copenhagen, to establish a notable credibility, Rudd/ Wong will need to be able to spruik what they have already done, and what they have resolved to do in terms of greenhouse control. This means at least to have supported renewable energy projects by awarding grants, etc, and to have passed significant legislation on emissions (which is exactly the reason why the Coalition is trying thwart passage until next year). To maximise political value within Australia both these have to be done well before parliament rises for the year (19th Nov?).
