Guys, it says it in the article posted above
" hedge funds and other players are clearly liquidating, and among the easiest things to move are metal stocks..."
Quality stocks get liquidated because there are always buyers for them. If you look at the sell side of specs during a rout as was the case on Thursday couple of weeks ago there are few buyers lining up.
Thats the reason.
