The President of Puntland, Dr. Abdirahman Farole, has today, after the Maqrib [sunset] prayer, arrived in Nairobi, Kenya. It is reported that the president will soon meet the African Oil Company which is carrying out oil explorations in some parts of Puntland, like the Dharoor Valley.
The President was accompanied by the Minister of Education, Dr Juha, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Abdillahi Ahmed Jama, the Minister of Rangeland and Wildlife [Environment], Mr. Abdiqani Mahamed Ade, and the Director of Energy/ Petroleum Mr. Isse Mahamud Dhoola-waa.
Mr. Abdirahman Farole and his delegation have previously spent some time in Ethiopia where they met various officials including the Director of Commercial Affairs/ Relations of Ethiopia and the Foreign Minister Mr. Seyuim Musfen.
The meeting between The Foreign Minister and Dr Farole, in Addis Ababa, took several hours and the two sides discussed various issues including the general security situation of the two administrations, fighting against the ONLF, which is hunted down by the Ethiopian government. Ethiopia also asked Puntland to handover any members of that organization.
Also whilst in Addis Ababa Mr. Farole met the President of Somalia, Sheik Sharif, whom he had some disagreements for a while.
Regarding Nairobi, Mr. Faroles visit is related to some sensitive talks which he is expected to have with Western officials discussing some issues such as the conflict between Mr. Osman Diyaano [Diano] and Mr. Farole and see the possibility of President Farole retracting from his dismissal of Mr. Osman Diyaano.
It is also possible for the Internal Affairs Minister to meet a number of development agencies including UNICEF, UNDP and UN-habitat.
