Once this thing produces I expect a market cap of $2b plus. The link at he bottom of the page also explains in further details WSA's Canadian targets. The below is only an exert.

    Western Areas takes on Canada

The junior nickel sector in Australia and Canada is disappearing quite rapidly, with Jubilee being bid for by Xstrata and Allegiance being bid for by Zinifex.

"The competition for the number of companies to reach that mid-tier position is dwindling. We think we are very well placed to do that."

A UBS Investment Research broker report revealed Western Areas has the same development capacity as nickel producer, Jubilee Mines.

Although Western Areas has a lower market cap of $0.99 billion (November 2007), compared to Jubilee's $3.1 billion (November 2007), UBS claims the reason for Western Areas' lower market cap is because it has no production record, despite both companies owning equal quality assets.

Where so many nickel juniors have been swallowed up by larger companies, USB suggests Western Areas may dodge takeover bullets because Western Areas' directors own 20 per cent of the company, and will not sell in the immediate future.

For Western Areas to achieve mid-tier nickel producer status, the company would need to have an annual nickel production of 40,000 tonne, Mr Hanna explained.

"Our goal is to get 30,000 tonnes of nickel per annum from Forrestania, and that includes Flying Fox and Diggers South and New Morning and Daybreak deposits.

"In addition, we are looking at trying to identify projects, which will produce 10,000 tonnes of nickel per annum in Canada."

Should Western Areas make this production capacity a reality, it would position the company as Australia's third-largest nickel producer.

"It would put us behind BHP, and behind Monaro, and it will put us third slot."
