SYDNEY Nov 12 (Reuters) - Shares in Australian oil and gas explorer Karoon Gas (KAR.AX: Quote) were suspended pending an announcement about its South American business.
The shares were halted from trade on Wednesday as it awaited results from a well off Brazil being drilled by its partner, state oil company Petrobras (PETR4.SA: Quote) [ID:nSGE6A90A7]
The pending drilling results could lead to a short delay in pricing on the initial public offering of Karoon's South American unit Karoon Petroleo & Gas SA, which had been due to be set in Brazil on Wednesday, a source close to Karoon told Reuters. The company has said it could raise up to $1 billion from the IPO, in which it is offering up to 31.9 percent of the shares in Karoon SA to investors in Brazil, to help fund exploration on its prospects in Brazil and Peru.
