Power Upgrade to Avon Industrial Park
Premier Alan Carpenter announced the State Government will provide $325,0000 through the Regional Investment Fund, to upgrade the power lines to the Avon Industrial Park at Northam.
“The Avon Industrial Park is a model of Government and community partnership and this money will support the establishment of a world-class kaolin processing plant,” the Premier said.
Mr Carpenter said the Swan River Kaolin project was a $100million investment with an estimated 100 long-term jobs, based on one of the world’s best quality
kaolin deposits. High quality kaolin is used extensively in manufacturing paper,
paint and many other products.
Premier Alan Carpenter and Wheatbelt Minister Kim It is expected that the electricity supply would be suficient to give the industrial park some extra capacity beyond the kaolin project.
“Western Australia’s resource opportunities are developing all over the State and this is another example of the State Government’s commitment to regional development,” he said.
