THAI PRESS REPORTS
Section: Corporate News - Thainox Stainless is joining hands with Arcelor Stainless International (ASI), a unit of Arcelor Mittal, the world's largest maker of steel and stainless steel, to seek opportunities in new export markets with innovative products, The Nation reports.
At the Thainox-ASI 5th Agents Conference 2007 in the Pattaya Marriott Hotel, Thainox Stainless chairman and CEO Prayudh Mahagitsiri said the conference was aimed at strengthening his company's strategic alliance with ASI, particularly in metallurgy support and technical services.
The conference will also identify opportunities for new markets with new grades of stainless steel and map out the company's growth in the global market.
The company must also cope with expansion of production capacity to 300,000 tonnes, which will be completed in November.
In addition, overall first-quarter results for Thainox's performance was reported to be more than Bt650 million, mainly generated by exports marketed through Arcelor's sales network.
"Though the cost of nickel, one of the major raw materials used in stainless-steel production, has fluctuated, Thainox could manage risk and achieve efficient sales," Prayudh said.
