The shorters borrow the shares off large holders for a fee ... probably like 7-8% (???) times the capital value of their holding ... for a specified period of time.

So say Gina wanted to loan her shares out for 1 year at 8% ... 200,000,000 at what she paid for them 30c or so ... $60 million times 8% is $4.8m for 12 months.

So say the shorter (who borrowed those 200m shares) has shorted 50m from that last spike to 27c ... and it's now 18c and they shorted on a linear ratio ... they are now 4.5c up over 50m shares ... $2.25m So they've nearly paid for half the 200m loan shares for a year JUST from that last spike from 27c, and just over a quarter of the loan shares.

They have 12 months then must return them ... but in the meantime they'll be accumulating shares through the bot as well.

So it'll be a lucrative opportunity. AND It will continue until enough retail/instos decide to go long in ARU to dominate the shorting.

That's the whole point ... it's not about who's selling it's about whether people are actually buying to counteract the shorter who doesn't own the shares - they've borrowed the shares to short with. It's the person who loaned out the shares that it really the problem.

Let's suggest that is Gina ... then she's getting $4.8m income from loaning the shares out ... but also she's in effect able to keep the share price down and eventually COULD buy another sizeable holding for far less than she would have otherwise been able to if she hadn't loaned the shares of for shorting.

So while the geopolitics and economy are suggesting risk-off, the shorter doesn't have much competition.

But they must be close to their max. and the SP is making a long saucer (I hope) pattern, so we're one piece of good FA news from the demand increasing.
