I've participated in between 50 & 100 SPP over the years and never had a problem.
I think you'll find a significant portion of the posts are from those who have NFI and complain when:
- they are looking in the wong account
- don't know they got the shares.
- tried to do it from O/S when they were told they couldn't
- tried to be too smart by half like On the Telstra Float applying in the names of their pets.
A lot of them don't even have the decency to post here when the issue is resolved and before that glance at the prospectus.
By all means pay over the top. Then complain when the price falls below the application price as hinted by CB or you get shaken out in volatility.
All IMVHO.
