Did anyone happen to see the megastructures tv show last night? It featured a 660m tall TV tower / visitors centre in Guangzhou provine, China.
ARUP provided the technical design and engineering which I undertdsand to be most of the FEED process.
The structure is not too dissimilar to the EVM tower so they have done something very similar before.
In fact, the tower in China appeared to be much more complex and had to withstand typhoons.
An 800m tall simple concrete tower should be of no concern for them.
And.... this blew me away.... they (someone out there) has a concrete pump that can pump concrete up sky-scrapers at 30feet per second or 110kmp/h. Sorry to whoever I luaghed at when they presnted the idea of concrete being pumped that high.
