If I were DL... and I'm not, obviously... I would greet every news release by Novo with an extremely enthusiastic, congratulatory response. It would make the shorts nervous about detente, plus it would freak NVO out a little, wondering 'what is he up to???'

Long both, expecting/hoping to eventually only have one ticker to watch. And for everyone rooting against the Canucks, I ask you whether you would rather exchange your holdings for shares in Barrick or for shares in a Pilbara-levered Kirkland. For all of the posturing, DL and QH and ES want something similar: a WA-focused major, not another piece of the Borg.
