    Alan,

    if you see a picture of earth from space we do not stand on a perfect sphere, rather a squashed spinning one!

    All the crust tension is pulling east-west, creating tears which tend to be north south. The ripping of the fabric, ie major faults hosting mineralisation tend to be north south predominantly.

    There are the occassional cross cutting faults and volcanic systems which tend to be circular-but major mineralisation is effectively north south.

    Examples-the Eastern Goldfields of Kalgoorlie, Broken Hill, Mt Isa, Mt Read volcanics in Tas, Lachlan Fold Belt mineralisation in NSW, and so on.

    There is no significant tonnage in any east west mineralised system that I am aware of in this country. Less than 1%?
