It's a fair point you make, but at the same time just because it is considered disruptive doesn't necessarily mean it will be a success and we all want to invest in successful business at the end of the day.
You can have disruptive business/technologies only within a specified region, or some other segment of the market where you can look to other similar type business that have worked elsewhere and hence involve less risk and require less validation. I think looking to peer to peer business like an Uber or freelancer.com is probably still trying to draw a long bow, but it doesn't mean there isn't money to be made on that type of hype alone....
