My tuppence worth fwiw -

We talk about gold and jewellry from our western perspective. But that's only good for us.

The sub-continent folk see gold jewellry as a form of saving.

To equate the demand for gold from India (and Pakistan to a lesser extent) with our ideas is a nonsense.

To the Indians, gold jewellry is real wealth - not just a symbol of it.

And really, who will be better off? An Indian wearing US$10,000 of gold jewellry - or you with your US$35,000 of paper money (or digital entry equivalent) deposited in some bank you trust, somewhere.

Time to get real is getting a lot closer IMO.
