I have no problem at all pointing out Morrison’s failings.
His biggest failings in my view are:
His ongoing support for dud ministers
His ongoing support for dud projects (eg submarine contract, Snowy Hydro)
His choice of gas over coal, which was the politically more palatable choice, and not the best choice for the east coast energy market.
Whilst I’d generally say I’m a Liberal voter, over the years at Federal and State elections, I have given my first preferences to Liberal, Labor, Nationals, LNP, Australian Conservatives and a transgender independent. I might have even given a ‘moral support’ vote to the Australian Democrats for the Senate on one occasion!
I work on the philosophy that no one individual, or party, has a monopoly on good, or bad, ideas, and that I vote based on the policies and candidates that are presented at any time. So whilst I’ll generally vote Liberal, I reckon some of the best policies, that really have set Australia apart from so many other countries, have come from the Labor party....Universal Healthcare, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Compulsory Superannuation.
You see, political parties aren’t football teams, that you back whether they’re top of the table or wooden spooners. A thinking person isn’t rusted on to any of them, realising they are only as good as their current philosophies, policies and candidates. This is where your unswerving loyalty to Labor is misplaced in my view, because the Labor party that supported the needs of average Australians, and introduced the great reforms that set us apart simply doesn’t exist any more....and now is just the low alcohol version of economically regressive Greens.
