The US Government says the West is facing its greatest terrorist threat from a revamped Al Qaeda movement in Pakistan.
In its annual report on terrorism, the US State Department says Al Qaeda has found a haven in border areas of Pakistan, from where it can mount attacks locally or worldwide.
However, the report maintains that Al Qaeda is still weaker than it was in September 2001.
Iraq still accounted for 60 per cent of all terrorism-related deaths, the report stated, but figures showed that attacks in Pakistan more than doubled last year.
The report also once again identified Iran as the world's most active state sponsor of terrorism because of its support for Palestinian extremists and insurgents in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
The report also says Al Qaeda uses tribal areas in various countries, including the Philippines and Indonesia, to train, recruit and distribute propaganda.

All the above is IMO true, the question is now that they are admitting it what are they going to do about it or will they go on ignoring these places and attacking others as is the case now.
