re: as usual - nothing??? Hi Tokyo ....

I have posted this elsewhere but not here, as yet.

I know you will have a good read of it and understand the potential (the implications?) of what is to be a growing network of Publishers/Media Co's, that Looksmart are 'slap bang', right in the middle of, as a result of their "Calling all Publishers" programme!!

    And ...

Accumulation (a plenty) has been going on for some time now, with (I estimate) some 12M shares gathered whilst the SP has been depressed. They are running out of sellers and now have to start taking the SP UP to attract more stock for them to get their hands on.

Is my opinion, of course. But I am able to follow it keenly, most nights.

UP 8.22% overnight has Looksmart back on track to achieve their $1.00pps compliance target, required by the Nasdaq authorities. I have no doubt they will achieve that easily, with the release of some news.

An existing partner of LOOK that I feel are worth noting is :

    ProQuest

You are reading FindArticles content provided by a partnership between LookSmart and Proquest.

ProQuest Information and Learning, a business unit of ProQuest Company, is a world leader in collecting, organizing, and publishing information worldwide for researchers, faculty, and students in libraries and schools. Known for its strength in business, general reference, humanities, social sciences, and STM content, the company develops premium databases comprising periodicals, newspapers, dissertations, out-of-print books, and other scholarly information from more than 8,500 publishers worldwide. Users access the information through the ProQuest® Web-based online information system, Chadwyck-Healey™ electronic and microform resources, UMI® microform and print reference products, eLibrary® and SIRS® educational resources, and XanEdu® online faculty and student resources.

PQE (Proquest) with a $1.1B market Cap enjoyed 25 Percent Revenue Growth for the Second Quarter, with Total Sales of just on $261.5 million, for the first half of 2005.

They are described as, 'a leading publisher of information and education solutions', in what is a HUGE market. - Advertisers (of all sorts and needs) will most certainly be further attracted to both Banner & 'contextual' type advertising opportunities, that will soon be provided by a growing list of Publisher, where there is now a somewhat urgent type awareness of the need, for a stronger web presence & consideration of the aspect of "sharing" of their own (existing & archived) content, that then (in effect), becomes a much more valuable, revenue generating asset for them all.

As always a 'possibility' thinker, I keep wondering about the ProQuest/Looksmart deal and an extention of this total 'concept' inter-twined with an already existing Proquest, NewYork Post 'hook up', being ......(Murdoch) etc etc .... (And Murdoch has also spoke of recently his desire, to have a "controlling interest" in what he described as .... "a quaint, but cheap little search engine")

My research has shown , that Proquest are also partners to the "Los Angeles Times"

    http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/latimes/ecom/offers.html

(bottom of page) - I have noted to, that both articles and "Links", from/direct to the "Los Angeles Times" are already, sometimes featured in the LOOK Verticals.

    Mmm??

A further search for "ProQuest Washington Post" provided a "list" of, (well,LOTS) of newspapers that ProQuest have access to archives of, it seems????

They, The Washington Post (NEWS) are included too, through ProQuest Services: - (see Link below)

    Well worth a read:

Worth noting also, that ProQuest manage the New York Post archive through their ProQuest Archiver (PQA) facility.

    http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/nypost/faq.html

Question ? - WHO owns the New York Post ??

Question ? - Does ProQuest's (PQE) have a "Save" facility, similar to Looksmart's Furl ???

"You may choose to print the document or save it for your personal review later on. Since you have access to this document for 90 days, you may complete the same search and retrieve the document again during this time period."
