"The pullback in global equity markets has once again led to the usual fears over whether the post-financial crisis five-year bull market is finally over.
I’ve consistently remained positive on the medium-term global equity outlook since it became clear United States weekly jobless claims had peaked way back in early 2009 – consistent with an end to America’s recession.
And so far, at least, I see little reason to change my view. All we’re seeing at present is an overly extended market looking for excuses to lose a bit of steam. One day the market is worried about US corporate earnings or US monetary policy. Its latest excuse is more exotic – jitters in emerging markets."
